Day 1 | Toronto – Montreal Our adventure starts early with a warm welcome from your Moose guide before heading to Montreal. Our first stop is at the Big Apple; be sure to try their famous apple pie! Then comes a lunch break before a cruise to the incredible Thousand Islands, located in the St. Lawrence River, along the Canada-US border. Enjoy Ontario’s unique landscape, where over 1,800 islands form this incredible archipelago. Tonight we’re exploring Montreal’s vibrant nightlife, just steps from the inn. (Boat cruise in the Thousand Islands included).
Day 2 | Montreal This morning, we explore Montréal, the Cité des Festivals and an important cultural Mecca of French Canada. Then enjoy the free time to explore for yourself. We recommend hiking to the summit of Mount Royal for a spectacular view of the island of Montreal, as well as authentic Montreal cuisine (try the Schwartz’s Deli delicatessen for Montreal!). Do not forget your translator to help you with your language skills. (Breakfast included).
Day 3 | Montreal – Rivière-du-Loup Our journey eastward continues towards our night destination, Rivière-du-Loup. Our travels take us through spectacular landscapes through small French settlements founded by Basque fishermen from France more than 350 years ago. The St. Lawrence River runs from fresh water to salt water in this region, so watch out for marine animals. Enjoy a group dinner at the inn tonight. Be sure to take a short walk to the Falls Park tonight to see its impressive waterfall. (Breakfast and dinner included).
Day 4 | Rivière-du-Loup – Moncton Today we are heading to the Maritimes; First step, New Brunswick – the only officially bilingual province in Canada so you can still practice your French! New Brunswick has a rich Francophone culture preserved by the Acadians – a cultural group with a very distinct history. Today we see the longest covered bridge in the world before going to our hostel in Moncton. (Breakfast included).
Day 5 | Moncton – Digby This morning we head to the famous Bay of Fundy, passing through the Annapolis Valley. We spend the night in Digby, Nova Scotia, a maritime fishing town par excellence. Tonight’s dinner is a group meal featuring Digby’s famous scallops! (Breakfast and dinner included).
Day 6 | Digby Today you explore this beautiful region, including a clam on the beach, led by locals. This activity is easily a tour favorite! Do not forget to visit the Digby Neck, a peninsula in the Bay of Fundy at the origins of the lava flow. End the day with a night of fun at the inn. (Excavations and meals included).
Day 7 | Digby – Halifax It’s time to travel to Nova Scotia’s capital, Halifax! En route, a truly Canadian stopover at Peggy’s Cove offers an iconic Maritime landscape. A stopover in Lunenburg is also planned, a beautiful port city whose origins are rooted in the British attempt to install Protestants in Nova Scotia while displacing indigenous peoples and Acadian Catholics. We end the day in Halifax. enjoy an evening in this lively city!
Day 8 | Halifax Enjoy some free time to explore Halifax today, there is plenty to do in this Maritime city! Be sure to see Halifax’s view of Citadel Hill, an 18th century National Historic Site of Canada for the defense of the city. Point Pleasant Park is also recommended for those looking for an ocean view. Later in the afternoon, visit the famous Alexander Keith brewery, followed by a group dinner in a local pub! (Alexander Keith Brewery included).
Day 9 | Halifax – Pleasant Bay, Cape Breton Island The day begins with a meeting with passengers on our Puffin Tour before heading to the beautiful Cape Breton Highlands, home to Canada’s Scottish heritage. There are several breathtaking photo stops on the road and we will hike on the famous Skyline Trail; Keep your eyes open for moose! Tonight we stay in a nice hostel along the Cabot Trail. (Dinner included)
Day 10 | Cape Breton Highlands National Park Today, an additional $ 50.00 CAD option allows you to embark on an incredible whale watching tour of the Atlantic Ocean! We continue to explore Cape Breton Island with unforgettable stops, including MacIntosh Brook and Black Brook Cove Beach. We spend the evening by the fire beside the other passengers.
Day 11 | Pleasant Bay, Cape Breton Island – Baddeck, Cape Breton Island Today, we continue to explore Cape Breton Island. A road along the Cabot Trail leads to stops, including Ingonish Beach and the Middle Head Hiking Trail, where views from the coastal cliffs are spectacular. We spend the evening by the fire beside the other passengers. (Dinner included)
Day 12 | Cape Breton Island Today, we visit Louisbourg, Nova Scotia, where you can choose to visit the Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site. The Fort was created in 1713 by French Europeans and developed over several decades to become an important initial port and defense system. Its two seats, notably that of 1758, mark a turning point in the Anglo-Francophone struggle to define Canada later. Tonight is a leisure night at the inn.
Day 13 | Baddeck, Cape Breton Island – Prince Edward Island This morning’s day leads to Prince Edward Island, Canada’s smallest province. Enjoy a beautiful route and a ferry crossing on the Gulf of St. Lawrence! Before settling into the Inn for the night, we will explore Charlottetown, the capital of Prince Edward Island, home to the signature of Canadian Confederation!
Day 14 | Prince Edward Island Today, we continue to explore Prince Edward Island, visiting Cavendish Beach and the beautiful home of Anne of Green Gables. (Breakfast included).
Day 15 | Prince Edward Island – Moncton Today we return to New Brunswick via the 13-kilometer Confederation Bridge and embark on a lobster boat cruise with a fresh lobster lunch. Then come the Hopewell Rocks, an impressive area of the Bay of Fundy. This is where you can see and learn about the incredible tide changes that are among the highest in the world! Tonight, join your guide for a city walk and an evening in town. (Breakfast included).
Day 16 | Moncton – Quebec City Quebec City is our destination today! With a quick stop at Montmorency Falls, we arrive in Quebec City at night. Quebec City is renowned for its historic defense walls, known as the City Walls of Quebec City. Make sure you climb this National Historic Site of Canada to enjoy spectacular views of the city and an unforgettable sunset. Tonight, enjoy a poutine (the snack is certainly recommended) to taste the local flavors; Enjoy your meal! (Breakfast included).
Day 17 | Quebec City Take the time today to stroll through the narrow, pedestrian streets of the city; a walk in the lower city is a must! Enjoy another group dinner at the inn before going out for a fun evening. (Dinner included)
Day 18 | Quebec City – Ottawa We go to the countryside of the beautiful province and we go to Ottawa, the capital of Canada. Once settled in the hostel, join your guide for a walk on historic Parliament Hill before heading to the ByWard Market for an evening of your choice. If time permits, be sure to admire the view from Nepean Point; it’s spectacular.
Day 19 | Ottawa Enjoy a free day today to explore the Canadian capital. We suggest crossing the Ontario-Quebec border to the Canadian Museum of History to enjoy unforgettable views of Parliament Hill. (Breakfast included).
Day 20 | Ottawa – Toronto The last day of our incredible tour! We are heading to Toronto today where we stopped for a picnic at Sandbanks Provincial Park on one of the most beautiful beaches in Ontario! We arrive in Toronto in the early evening. (Breakfast included).

What activities can I do on tour?
We have so many options to choose from that you’re bound to find something that suits your time, budget and level of adventure. Check out our activities page for more details.
Should I book my activities ahead of time?
Moose will book all of your activities. For a few activities you will be asked upon departure if you would like to participate. For the majority your Moose guide will tell you all about them once you are on your trip.
What is there to do if I don't want to participate in the optional activities?
The Moose guide will give you an alternative if you don’t want to participate in an activity.
Can I be picked up and dropped off at a hotel that isn't a departure point?
Due to our full itinerary, we ask that you arrange to be at one of our pick up hostels to ensure we remain on time and don’t inconvenience other passengers that may be waiting.
What time will my tour end?
You usually arrive at each destination around 5.00pm – 7.00pm. The return time is dependent upon external factors such as traffic and at times there may be delays due to unforeseen circumstances. We strongly recommend that you do not book other travel or activities on the final day of your tour.
Where do I get picked up for my tour?
For tours departing from Toronto we can pick up at Hostelling International, Planet Traveler Hostel or you can meet us at our office. For departures in Montreal and Halifax, the location is the Hostelling International in both cities.
