Visit the tomb of Dom Perignon and learn how he perfected the Champagne making process. Walk through the vineyards to see how the grapes are cultivated. Meet a small local producer and learn how Champagne is made and, of course, the proper way to drink it!

You’ll have a full hour of free time to enjoy your lunch in Epernay, the capital of Champagne. Then spend the afternoon exploring the amazing cellars of Moet & Chandon, the world’s largest and most famous producer of Champagne.

Dom Perignon and the Vineyards
Join our small 8 person group tour from Paris to the Champagne Region of France. We’ll meet you at Place de la Bastille in Paris and then drive the 90 minutes to Champagne in style. Our minibus has large leather seats, fresh air-conditioning, and big clear windows so that you can enjoy the drive through the countryside.

The first stop on the tour will be in Hautvillers, a small village on a hillside with gorgeous views overlooking the Marne river and vineyards around it. There your guide will explain the history of Champagne, our famous sparkling wine, and the monk who perfected it, Dom Perignon. Dom Perignon’s tomb is tucked away in a little chapel attached to the abbey he lived in.

You’ll visit the chapel and tomb, then take a walk through a neighboring vineyard to see and feel the grapes and vines as they grow. There you’ll learn about the 3 different types of grapes that are cultivated to make Champagne; Pinot Noir, Pinot

Tasting Champagne with a Local Winemaker
Crossing the valley you will be welcomed by a highly regarded local vintner, a 3rd generation winemaker of Champagne. You’ll discover all of the delicate details of making Champagne while visiting his cellars, the grape press, oak barrels, and corking station.

Once you understand how it is made, it will be time to let your tastebuds do some learning. In a special room, overlooking the vineyard, we’ll share some local brioche bread, and introduce you to 3 different types of Champagne. You’ll learn the differences between a Brut and a Demi-Sec, a Cuvée and a Vintage, and enjoy a Rosé as well.

Then you’re off to the capital of Champagne, the beautiful town of Epernay. In the heart of the old town, you’ll have a full hour of free time to enjoy your lunch and explore on foot if you’d like. There are several great cafés, bistros and French bakeries for you to choose from.

Tasting in Moët & Chandon Cellars
After lunch, you’ll head to the beautiful Avenue de Champagne where the biggest and most prestigious house, Moët & Chandon, has their headquarters. You’ll learn their fascinating history and enjoy a fully guided tour of the house and the amazing cellars below it.

The cellars of Moët & Chandon impress in their scope and scale. You’ll walk through a small portion of their 28 kilometers of tunnels that hold 100 million bottles of Champagne in all sizes. At the end of the tour you’ll be given a full glass of Impérial Brut, their most famous cuvée since 1869.

By the end of this tour you will be able to share with your friends the reasons Champagne became the wine of romance, glamour, and celebration. You’ll also appreciate all of the passion and effort that goes into producing each bottle. When the adventure is over you’ll arrive back in Paris, around 6pm, at Place de la Bastille.
