From Lisbon: Visit Piódão Or Monsanto In Full Day Small Group Tour

In this tour you can opt by visiting Piódão, Foz D’Égua and Casal de São Simão or Monsanto and Belmonte.

From Lisbon to the beautiful village of Piódão, a Portuguese parish in the municipality of Arganil. It is one of the most beautiful villages in Portugal, largely due to the disposition of shale houses in amphitheater. At nightfall, with the lights of the houses, you will have the impression of seeing a crib.

We follow the tour until Aldeia de Foz D’Égua, which belongs to the parish of Piódão, and shares the mystical beauty of the Serra do Açor. Characterised by its serrano rural aspect, with the typical shale and slate houses, surrounded by a nature almost in pure state, it is rich in species of fauna and flora that here find their natural habitat. In Foz D’Égua there is a river beach of great beauty, the meeting point of the Piódão river with the Chãs river, which runs towards the river Alvoco and whose course is blocked by a dam creating a water mirror.

Next we stop for having a lunch break in one typical restaurant where traditional Portuguese food will be served.

If you opt by visiting Monsanto, we will take you to the village of Monsanto, considered the most Portuguese village of Portugal. Its origins go back to the Paleolithic, conquered to the Moors by D. Afonso Henriques, in 1165, and later donated to the Order of the Templars that built the castle under the orders of D. Gualdim Pais. This village is characterised by its granite and schist houses nestled in the middle of giant blocks of granite.
