We will travel from Madrid in a comfortable air-conditioned bus to Avila and Segovia, two World Heritage cities and essential jewels of Castile and Leon with a valuable Roman and medieval legacy.

We will arrive to Avila and will start our guided visit for an hour and a half for the most outstanding monuments of the city, then we will enjoy your free time to discover Avila “on your own”. Inside and outside the walls you can find an endless number of monuments and historical buildings to discover the impressive medieval style of the city or simply enjoy the terraces and buy the typical yolks of Ávila.

We will continue our trip to the spectacular city of Segovia. The essential visit of the Roman Aqueduct, almost 2000 years old, is the ideal starting point for a guided tour of the Segovian capital. As we arrive at lunchtime after the visit of the Aqueduct you will have a free time to enjoy the gastronomy of Segovia. We will continue our guided tour through the narrow streets, discovering the historic center. We will reach the Plaza Mayor where the Gothic Cathedral of Santa María shines with its own light. The next point of our visit is the imposing Alcázar de Segovia. For this we will walk about eight minutes down the unique streets that gives us the Castilian city. Together with the Aqueduct and the Cathedral, the Alcázar completes the trio of Segovia’s most popular monuments. Then we will have free time to continue enjoying this beautiful city .

We will return to Madrid after an intense day of emotions and with unforgettable memories of the beauty and majesty of these two cities like Avila and Segovia.

Trip to Segovia and Ávila

The group was far too big for the tour guide to look after (about 30 of us!) so it was a bit impersonal. Coach was clean. If you’re just after a basic service of ‘let’s go to Segovia and Ávila’ then this is ok. The tour is in English and Spanish but felt a bit rushed so the commentary in English was a bit less detailed.

We had a great time on our trip to Avila and Segovia. Originally I only wanted to see Segovia to see the castle but I’m glad the bus went to both places. Our bus was on time for pickup. First was about an hour ride to Avil where we stopped to take a picture of the walled city before entering. Then a walking tour with our tour guide Viviana, who gave us history in both Spanish and English plus some free time to explore. Then another hour bus ride to Segovia for lunch and another walking tour and free time. Both towns were very charming and a nice break from the city. The bus route was scenic with lots of pretty mountains to gaze at in between towns. Viviana was a fantastic tour guide and did her best to make everyone comfortable. We went on international Women’s day so the bus ride back to Madrid was longer due to traffic. We were blocked from getting to Plaza España because of demonstrations in the city that day, but the bus driver and Viviana found a way to get us pretty close to the drop off point and helped us map out how to get back to our hotel. Overall a great day trip! Worth every penny.

Took a really good day trip from Madrid to the beautiful UNESCO world heritage old towns of Avila first and then Segovia. The guide was excellent, really courteous and knowledgeable with just the right amount of commentary, first in Spanish then in English and plenty of information without going on and on all day like some tour guides feel they have to do. Consequently you had time to take it in and absorb it for yourself.
