Your full day tour covers much ground to deliver the signature scenes from the famous movies that were shot around the Queenstown region. Commencing at 8am, the tour first travels West to Glenorchy and Paradise before returning to Queenstown for lunch followed by Arrowtown and Gibbston before finishing in Skippers Canyon.

Refreshments of tea, coffee, hot chocolate accompanied by biscuits and cake are served both morning and afternoon and a light lunch is supplied in one of the Queenstown cafes.

The morning tour travels along the Wakatipu Lake edge to the small hamlet of Glenorchy. This portion is scenic with many photo stops along the way and in the Paradise region of Mount Aspiring National Park, short walks on flat forest track are easy and the road is a mixture of seal and gravel.

The afternoon section is more rugged with short periods of rough ground and river crossings. The tour visits Gibbston and Arrowtown and the Skippers Canyon Road which is high and windy. Short walks are on well managed surfaces and the opportunity to pan for elven gold is beside the river on uneven ground.

Content of the tours include the setting s for; The Ford of Bruinen, Gladden Fields, The Pillars of the Kings, exodus from Edoras, Warg Battle, Misty Mountains, Itilien Camp, Oliphants, Caradhras, Lothlorien, Fangorn, Gap of Rohan, Isengard, Dunharrow and many backgrounds to the scenes.

Join us! “Let this be the hour when we draw swords together. Fell deeds awake. Now for wrath, now for ruin, and the red dawn. Forth, Eorlingas! “

Great way to see LOTR locations

★★★★★ Reviewed by Peter on 2019-06-20
We took the full-day LOTR tour (which combines the two half-day tours) while in Queenstown at the end of our trip through New Zealand with Red Carpet Tours. We went to the Glenorchy area in the morning, and we especially liked the Ithilien location as well as the forest where Boromir is killed. They provided a great lunch back in Queenstown, and then went on the other tour in the afternoon. Driving through the Arrow River was a great experience by itself, but it also allowed us to see the Ford of Bruinen location from the film. We were particularly impressed with Jenny, who was our afternoon driver/guide. Highly recommended!

We took the LOTR trip with Nomad and had the most amazing time. The scenery was spectacular, the locations and info on LOTR amazing, and it was beyond fun going through the rivers and up the side of the mountain. Our guide - Marcelo - was FANTASTIC!!!! Thank you for giving us the time of our lives, Marcelo. When (not if) we come back, we are going to book this again it was so much fun !!!!!

Exciting, beautiful, and fun!

We had the best time with "E" and Genny! "E's" sense of humor was second to none, and he had a lot of knowledge about not only the places we visited, but New Zealand in general! Genny was kind, adventurous, funny, and knowledgeable! Both guides made this trip amazing in their own ways, and we were thankful to have them lead us around!

Great tour, not only for LOTR fans!

First of all: compliments to Justin and Saara for being the best tour guides ever! The tour is not only LOTR, also because a lot of LOTR locations are in Wellington, but Nomad Safaris makes the best out of what this cool area has to offer! You also get to know Queenstown and the area itself, which is nice too. Recommendation from my wife and me!
