From Split: Full-Day Tour To Krka Waterfalls & Skradin

Join us in exploring one of many wonders of nature that Croatia has to offer. Our tour starts at 8:30 in the morning in front of our agency. Our attentive English-speaking guide will greet you there and escort you to your ride. All transportation is air conditioned and spacious.

On your way to the Krka national park you will have a chance to see authentic scenery that has drew numerous tourists to Croatia. Thanks to our nature Croatia has been the filming location for number of films and shows such as ‘’Games of Thrones’’. Once you get to the beautiful city of Skradin you have reached the entrance to the national park.

With all his delights Skradin is another one of Croatia’s little gems. To reach the park you need to take a short boat ride in beautiful wooden ships that show you all the glory of the river. Boat ride starts in Skradin and goes up to Skradinski buk, further upstream towards Visovac, Roški Waterfall, and the Monastery of St. Archangel in Kistanje.

The Monastery has a large library, full of historical manuscripts and books. A boat ride is a chance to enjoy the unique natural beauty of the river, the rich flora and fauna, and see numerous monuments and sacral buildings.

When you get to the national park your guide will gather you and explain the route, meeting point and give you pointers on how to spend your free time. You can join us on a walking tour around the park or you can go exploring by yourself, in that case you have 5 hours of free time.

It’s optional because we don’t like to pressure you into anything, and we let you choose your own pace. You can spend your off time exploring enchanting nature that looks like it came right out of a fairy tale. Furthermore, you can go hiking or taste local cuisine in the small restaurants.

The best part (especially during hot summer months) is the beach located under the main waterfall. You can refresh there and feel the strength of the powerful river. The name of the main waterfall is Roški slap. The length of its travertine barriers is approximately 650 m, the maximum width of the river flow is 450 m and the total drop of the waterfall is 22.5 m. The highest part of the waterfall is 15 meters.

The river dives into Visovac Lake, and the River canyon is interesting because of its distinctive and rich vegetation. In 1895 the first hydro power plant in Europe was built at Roški Waterfall. It was built based on the patent of Nikola Tesla, one of the most famous scientists of all time. The same patent was used to build the first ever hydro power plant at Niagara waterfalls.

Today at Roški Waterfall, numerous mills, stamping and rolling mills, which are now ethnographic monuments, have been preserved and restored bearing witness to the economic history and rural architecture of the region. After a day full of activities and excitement you must be tired.

Around 16:00 we will head back to Split. Around 17:15 you are back and have enough time to rest and decide on which new adventure you want to engage with us next. We would like to share with you the wanders of our small but beautiful country.
