Ponta do sol is known to be the sunniest place in Madeira and here starts a relaxing and pleasant journey. After walking in this small village for a while, it is time to get in the car and cruise through an old road where we´ll come across a waterfall that one drives thru! Exciting!
The journey carries on passing by Madalena do Mar, Calheta and Jardim do Mar lies just ahead. With only 200 inhabitants in this tranquil village we´ll walk along the promenade and then visit the picturesque houses.
Continuing the tour we´ll arrive at Paúl do Mar. Beautiful village surrounded by cliffs and see, became known since 2001 when Paúl do Mar was one of the venues for the World Surfing Championship. This is the chosen place to have lunch.
Departing this village towards Fajã da Ovelha you´ll see one of the most beautiful roads Madeira has to offer, driving uphill through some old tunnels. Some kilometers ahead comes Ponta do Pargo, the most western point of the island. Here is a lighthouse with splendid views to the cliffs that fall into the sea.
