San Juan De Gaztelugatxe – Reach The Top!

After picking up at the hotel in Bilbao, we will go by bus to the viewpoint from where you can see the zigzag bridge that will take us to the island.

Once there we will have two free hours to make the tour of the stone bridge with 241 steps that connects the continent with the top of the island of San Juan de Gaztelugatxe.

NOTE** Confortable shoes and clothes are needed. Water will be recomendable.

As we cross the bridge, it will seem to us that we are ascending towards the Dragonstone fortress for an audience with Daenerys Targaryen. In addition to remembering the scenes of Game of Thrones that were shot in this location, once we get to the top of the islet we will admire the incredible views that surround it.

We will enter the hermitage dedicated to Juan Bautista to follow the local tradition of ringing the bell and making a wish.

We will leave behind Rocadragón to visit the town of Vizcaína de Bermeo. We will take a walk through this fishing village with a deep-sea fishing tradition.

Before finishing our tour we will go to Guernica, a Basque town that gives its name to the famous painting by Pablo Picasso. Do you know what terrible episode of the Spanish Civil War occurred in this place? We will tell you about it while we visit the Casa de Juntas, one of the few buildings that survived.

The tour ends back at the hotel in Bilbao.
