Visit Scotland sums up Glen Ord Distillery perfectly… A visit to Glen Ord, on the edge of the Black Isle in the Highlands west of Inverness, is a delight to both the eye and the palate. Nestled on the outskirts of Muir of Ord, Glen Ord Distillery is one of the Highland’s hidden treasures producing liquid gold all year round.

With a welcome as warm as the whisky, you’ll be sure to leave satisfied after experiencing the world-famous Scottish hospitality at this 5-star visitor attraction. Open all year, Glen Ord offers a range of tours to suit everyone; from the whisky novice to the connoisseur.

Known locally as Millionaires Viewpoint this has to be 2 of the most scenic scenes in the Highlands of Scotland. The name originates from the entrepreneur Andrew Carnaigie who’s home was once Skibo castle. It is said he would bring all of his visiting friends to this point to show them the views.

The name ‘Dornoch’ is derived from the Gaelic for ‘pebbly place’, suggesting that the area contained pebbles the size of a fist (dorn) which could therefore be used as weapons. Dornoch has the thirteenth-century Dornoch Cathedral, the Old Town Jail, and the previous Bishop’s Palace which is now the well-known hotel, Dornoch Castle and a notable golf course, the Royal Dornoch Golf Club, named the 5th best golf course outside the United States.

It is also notable as the last place a witch was burnt in Scotland. Her name was reported as Janet Horne; she was tried and condemned to death in 1727. There is a stone, the Witch’s Stone, commemorating her death, inscribed with the year 1722.

We stop here for entry to Castle, Castle Gardens and Falconry Display. This Castle is one of the oldest inhabited houses in Scotland. The falconry display is awesome and you will be amazed at the display they do for you.

Moving on to Loch Fleet to experience a magical blend of wildlife, coastal scenery and pinewoods. … If the weather and timing is right we should some seals basking on the sands. The reserve is on the east side of A9 in Sutherland, between Dornoch and Golspie.
