The Algarve postal card, the Benagil cave is a huge sea grotto on the southern Portuguese coast. You can only get in there through the water, and getting a perfect pic may be a little tricky. But if people on the internet did it, so can you!

The best way to get there is with a kayak or stand-up-paddle guided tour, that will take you safely inside the cave. Have a rest on the beach, climb that big rock and strike a pose! This is the must-do photo in the Algarve.

Also known as one of the most stunning beaches in the universe, the Marinha beach is a ridiculously beautiful place that you can enjoy for free! It’s located near the Benagil cave, so you can do both visits on the same day.

My personal favorite is to have a nice walk along the cliffs that surround the beach. From the parking lot, go walking right until you reach the beautiful arches. Then, of course, go back and enjoy the beach.

The views of this beach are amazing and for me, it truly represents the beauty of the Algarve. You will see that this location will make you want to take a thousand pictures of each angle.

3. Estudantes beach bridge over cliffs

Just outside Lagos, the Estudantes beach seems to be just a regular beach. Get there and be surprised! The cliffs of the beach hold a bridge and hidden tunnels carved in the stones. Following one of the tunnels, you’ll get to another beach, praia da Batata.

The photo is another classic and the beach is very calm. Explore the beach, relax and sunbathe and strike a pose at the most photographed bridge of southern Portugal.

4. Praia do Camilo stairways and rock

One of the most iconic photos of the Algarve travelers, the Camilo beach is stupidly photogenic. As you get there, the beach is located in Lagos, you will go down an amazing walkway and stairway that leads to the beach.

The cliffs and the rock formations of Lagos are incredible and this beach captures all that passion. It almost makes poetry.

Oh and besides the stairway you can also find a cute cliff that splits the beach in two, and that has a hole where you can take a fantastic photo. You’re welcome.

5. Rock Formations of Algar Seco

Near the charming village of Carvoeiro, there is a magical place called Algar Seco. This area is a combination of golden cliffs and rock formations by the ocean that you can explore and get lost – beware your balance.

In there you can find caves that were sculpted inside the cliffs, some that are like houses and have beautiful windows to the sea. Make sure you get your best looks at this place, you will love it!

6. Silves Castle

Built in the 11th century, the castle of Silves used to guard what was once the capital of Algarve. It is the best-kept building of the Moorish-era in the region and, besides being a great historical location, it’s also very photogenic! The ticket to the castle is only 2,80€.

The road that leads to the small city of Silves is filled with orange trees, mountains, and typical white Algarvian houses. That said, a lot of photo opportunities on the way!

7. Ponta da Piedade cliffs and walkways

Sheltering the city of Lagos, the cliffs of Ponta da Piedade are a classic beauty of the coast. You will fall in love with it from any angle!

A lovely idea is to walk along the cliffs and go down to the amazing spot where you can take the perfect pictures. Take your time to explore the whole area, it’s really worth it. Just be careful and respect the safety limits.

Did you know that before the Benagil cave was the hype, the Ponta da Piedade cliffs were the most famous attraction of the Algarve? Some people still say that they are the best. Tell us what you prefer!

8. Faro Old Town

When you pass by the city of Faro, make sure you visit its old town, Vila Adentro. Stroll down the old cobbled streets, see the ancient walls, and marvel at the beautiful coast of Ria Formosa.

The Marina of Faro and the Ria Formosa pier are my personal favorites, but you definitely should stop by the arch of the village. The Algarvian spirit is on these walls, keep it in a photograph.

We have a nice itinerary to guide you in the historic center of Faro, check it out here!

Carvoeiro is one of the most beautiful villages in the Algarve. This village grows with the golden cliffs by the ocean, giving it a romantic vibe to take your breath away. See for yourself!

This place will definitely give you a #blessed feeling. It will be a photo to remember.

A great idea is to enjoy the view, then walk on the walkways by the sea until Algar Seco rock formations. It’s a nice view of the ocean and the golden coast, perfect for a nice afternoon hike.

10. Palácio de Estói

The palace of Estói, which is also a hotel, is a charming building of the 17th century. Its lovely garden and the typical Portuguese architecture and tiles will guarantee you great photos.

It is located near Faro and you can visit the exterior of the palace and the gardens for free, even if you’re not staying at the hotel. Totally a must-do!
