About Caminito

Contributing to the emblematic and tourist image of the La Boca neighborhood is the famous Caminito, a traditional street path that once was a stretch of railroad and followed to other parts of the city. In 1928 the railroad was closed and the space abandoned. It was thanks to the initiative and effort of the neighborhood, among them the painter Benito Quinquela Martín, famous mainly for his work benefitting the neighborhood, that the place was transformed into an open-air museum of great cultural and tourist value, mainly due to the influence of tango.

"Very nice tour with Claudia our guide. The bus and the metro are already an experience. Very comprehensive general walk, perfect if you have only one day. We were lucky with the weather although, sunny. Two days before, would have been a drama. Clearly to recommend."

"Great way to orientate yourself. You can then choose where to go back to later. Nice driver and she spoke three languages on the trip. Impressive. And friendly."

"This tour is hands-down the best way to see Buenos Aires - I've been here a month and done a few tours but none as comprehensive as this one. We visited some great spots, and everything was at a comfortable pace. As someone who isn't particularly keen on having very sore feet, the little bus and subte trips were a fab way to make sure we were all still going strong. Our guide, Santiago, was really friendly and knew lots of cool little facts along the way - things only an interested local could really know. He spoke great Spanish and English, and put up with me trying to speak Spanish so big thumbs up for that! A safe way to visit La Boca and a relaxed and super fun way to see the city as a whole. If you enjoy a good walk and want to see the best parts of the city, book this tour. Will be recommending!!"

"Excellent value with knowledgeable guide and sufficient time at stops to take photos and quick exploration or grab a coffee. Can recommend."

"San Telmo, Palermo, Recoleta, Boca and other neighborhoods of Buenos Aires require weeks to be seen and enjoyed. Shiny and rottenly rich side of Argentina and Buenos Aires can be seen around stadium of River Plate La Boca is the other side of a Buenos Aires mirror. This historic colorful area that hosts a famous futbool stadium is inhabited by poor migrants. many slams built from scrap materials tells a story about poor and mostly European migrants and their hardship. There is only one picture that sticks in my mind after this trip. It is a barbed wire or broken glass on the walls of every single house. I am not sure if it tells more about (in)security, safety or else. However, it is a fantastic city and country overall to visit."
