Deux fois par an, une piazza en forme de coquille dans le centre de Sienne devient le cadre de l'un des événements les plus passionnants de l'Italie: Il Palio. Cette course de chevaux rapide comme un éclair est une bataille entre les quartiers de la ville, et des milliers d'habitants et de visiteurs affluent chaque année sur la Piazza del Campo pour assister au spectacle. C'est un événement typiquement italien, avec de l'enthousiasme, de la grandeur et beaucoup de passion de tous les côtés.

Qu'est-ce que le Palio di Siena?
Le Palio est une course de chevaux à dos nu qui suit un parcours sur les bords de la Piazza del Campo médiévale de Sienne. Dix chevaux participent, représentant 10 des 17 Contrade (districts) de Sienne. Chaque contrada a son propre emblème et ses propres couleurs, que vous verrez plâtrés à travers les drapeaux et les bannières qui décorent la ville dans les jours précédant la course.
