Detailed Itinerary of Best of Nepal Tour

Day 01: – Greetings at Kathmandu Airport

We will meet you at the airport and transfer to your hotel. As you freshen up after your long journey, you will be asked to visit our office for a briefing about your program. You will have a meeting with your trekking guide and have a discussion about the program. If you arrive at night we will have the same discussion in next day morning after breakfast.

Day 02: – A full day recreational tour of Kathmandu, the capital valley

The very next morning, after breakfast you will be taken for a full day sightseeing tour around Kathmandu valley. You will visit the center of pilgrimage Pashupatinath Temple and Swyambhunath, very ancient and enlisted in UNESCO World Heritage sites. The biggest Buddhist Stupa at Boudhanath and the fine arts and historical architecture of Kathmandu Durbar Square take you to the ancient Nepalese culture. On a journey back to the hotel, you can explore the local areas, gullies and lifestyle.

Day 03: – Drive to Nagarkot – hiking to Changu Narayan and back to Kathmandu

This day involves waking up in the early morning hours in order to watch the spectacular sunrise over the Himalayan range. We’ll have a drive of about 2 hrs to Nagarkot. The first rays of the sun firing the peaks glowing a multitude of pink, gold and red hues as it slowly lights up the Himalayas. After breakfast, we will have small hiking down to ChanguNarayan Temple-dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It was built in the 4th century and has a stone inscription which is the first recorded history of Nepal. Its one of the UNESCO recognized heritage sites of Nepal. We will walk through a cool dense forest and local villages exploring the Nepalese village life. Spend your beautiful night in Kathmandu hotel.

Day 04: – Flight or Drive to Pokhara

After having your breakfast, we will drive you to the Domestic Airport to take a 25 minutes flight to Pokhara. Or if you wish you can take a Tourist bus to Pokhara about 6-7 hour drive exploring & enjoying with scenic beauty all the way around. In the evening, you can walk in the lakeside on your own or you can take a boating trip on Phewa Lake where you can enjoy the spectacular views of Annapurna Himalaya Range reflected in all its glory in the calm green water of the lake.

Day 05: – Pokhara trekking to Ghandruk (1940m)

A car drive for about 1 and half hour through large village Lumle brings you to Nayapul. The trek starts dropping at first on a staircase and then traversing high above the river on a wide stone-paved trail to a large and prosperous town Birethanti (1065m). The trail follows the main street winding through the bamboo forests and past waterfalls with plunge pools inviting you for a refreshing swim. After passing a flatland, forest, cultivated lands and a suspension bridge over Khumnu Khola, we arrive at the beautiful village of Ghandruk after 3-4 hrs walking. An ideal vantage point in this pristine village offers breathtaking views of Annapurna, Gangapurna, Machhapuchhre, and Hiuchhuli. There will be time to explore, rest, and enjoy some lunch, before settling into your accommodation for the night.

Day 06: – Ghandruk Trekking to Jhinu Hot Spring (1750m)

Hiking through a flat level for an hour passing through terraces, streams and the green sceneries, we will work down to a bridge over Kyuri Khola at 2010m. The trail starts ascending to Kumrong Danda. Very almighty rhododendron forests and fine terraces went passing through our trail to the Chhomrong village. Chhomrong is a beautiful village with lots of Lodges providing good facilities. From here you can also trek down about 1 hour to Jhinu. A Natural hot spring at Jhinu is an inviting place to spend time splashing in the small pool beside the natural hot spring.

Day 07: – Jhinu Hot Spring trek to Pothana (1990m)

After breakfast next morning, the trail continues on to Landruk, a beautiful Gurung village which provides an excellent view of the surrounding mountain ranges. The trail emerges in the main Modi Khola valley and reaches Tolkha and continues towards Pothana. The view of Machhapuchhare (6997m) is excellent from here, except that from this angle it looks more like Matterhorn than a fishtail.

Day 08: – Pothana trekking to Pokhara

Today we will walk along a paved stone trail through Rhododendron forests arriving at Dhampus (1750m). This village is inhabited by a mix of people from different Nepalese cultures, Gurung, Brahman, and Magar communities. After a rest here we will walk mostly downhill through fields to the forest and on to the Phedi. A 30 min drive from Phedi brings you to Pokhara. We spend a beautiful night in a beautiful Pokhara city.

Day 09: – Pokhara – Drive or fly to Chitwan National park

After breakfast drive to Chitwan National park the drive is 5/6 hours depends on traffic and some part of the road is under construction now so sometimes it may take a longer hour, now we can take a flight also from Pokhara to Chitwan which is about 20 minute. On arrival at Chitwan transfer to the hotel, you will get lunch get a short briefing on the program and our facilities. An exciting elephant ride (Jungle Safari) offered for guest to explore the jungle and wildlife at the evening. You will be able to see the one-horned rhinoceros, several types of deer, monkeys, wild boar, bison, sloth bear, leopard and, if lucky, the Royal Bengal tiger.

Day 10: – Exploration of Chitwan National Park.

After tea or coffee, a nature walk on foot to encounter with the environment will introduce the main features of eastern Chitwan; Sal forest, open grassland and reverie jungle. Our guides will help you identify some species of birds, plants and other wildlife. Learn more about these fascinating animals during a visit to our elephant stable. (For the brave ones there is even a crash course in riding and leading the elephants). After lunch, traditional dug-out canoe takes you on a silent trip down the Rapti River to view aquatic birds and the animals of the river banks. At the evening, farmers of the nearby villages will show some of their traditional skills and dances.

Day 11: – Chitwan National Park to Kathmandu

Early in the morning, after tea, you can have bird watching or another elephant ride. On safari in the jungle, you will be accompanied by expert naturalists who will advise on safety procedures and we request you to respect their judgment at all times. If you wish to stroll in the forest alone, a guide will have to accompany you for your safety. after breakfast we will drive back to Kathmandu alternately you can take a short flight back also.

Day 12: – Final Departure

If you are leaving Nepal and not continuing your holiday here in Nepal, we will drop you to the International airport to catch your flight back to your home. We will wish you a happy journey in the traditional and cultural way of Nepal and hope to see you again.

How fit do I need to be for this tour? Is this trip for me?
This tour is suitable for any kind of person, no previous experience is required.
Will somebody come to pick me up at the Airport upon my arrival?
Yes, our airport representative will be there to greet you at the airport. S/he will be displaying a Peregrine Tour signboard and your name. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel.
What sort of accommodation can I expect in Kathmandu and in this tour?
We provide three star hotel accommodations in the city area and local lodge during the trek. The hotels offer the facilities of attached bathrooms, dining room, a bar, Internet services, hot shower and so forth. You can upgrade the accommodation to a five-star hotel for the entire trip for an additional charge.
What sort of food can I expect in the tour?
All the restaurants that we dine at cater for Continental, Chinese, Mexican, American-based cuisine with some local influences, always plenty to choose from.
What mode of transportation do you use?
We use comfortable and reliable Japanese Toyota SUVs, vans or micro-buses to transport our guests. These light-weight vehicles are maneuverable in the narrow roads of Nepal. You will have a vehicle, a guide and a licensed driver at your disposal at all times. We use our own Fleet service for Transportation
What is the weather and the temperature like?
It depends on the season you’re traveling. During winter (December to February), it is colder at night and relatively warmer during the day, with the temperature ranging from 4°C at night to 22°C. Between March and May, the weather stays prefect as the temperature averages 25°C during the day. From September to December, following the monsoon, the temperature gets cooler and allows for a great time to travel. The average temperature during this season is 20°C. The vehicles and the hotels during the trip will be air-conditioned making your travel very comfortable.
Is there a minimum and a maximum number for your groups?
We cater to all group sizes, while maintaining the field staff ratio to give you the best quality and experience.
Can I charge my digital camera or other equipment’s on my trip?
These facilities are available in all the places in your hotel. Remember to bring your adapters!
Can I use credit cards in the places I visit?
ATMs are available in Kathmandu. Major credit cards are accepted in all places but you need to pay 4% extra as bank levy, which might make cash more preferable.
Do I need to tip my guide and driver? How much would that be?
Tips are always expected. It is a small gesture of thanks to the field staff towards the end of the tour USD 20 per guide and USD 10 per driver per day is recommended per group, but it is entirely up to your wishes.
What essential documents do I need to bring with me on tours?
Here are some documents that you will need to carry with you: Valid Passport – must be valid for up to 6 months after you return from your tour, keep a separate photocopy; Travel insurance, keep a separate photocopy; Cash and Traveller’s Cheques, keep numbers and proof of purchase separately; Flight tickets; Emergency contact numbers for T/C’s, banks, insurance, family contacts.
Can I add extra days to my trip?
A holiday should never be about making it to the final point quickly. Along your trek, we can add days at your request with additional costs to cover guides, porters, accommodation and food.
What immunizations will I need?
No vaccinations are compulsory fro travelling in Bhutan, but we do recommend you are covered for diphtheria TB, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, *malaria, typhoid, polio and tetanus. We also recommend: A dental check-up prior to travelling; That you know your blood group in case of emergency; If you have any pre-existing medical conditions, which might affect you on tour, you make these known to your tour leader and Ace the Himalaya at the time of your booking.
