Geography and history kept this beautiful peninsula isolated from the affairs of the new Mexican republic, and for this reason, its cultural manifestations evolved independently of the rest of the Mexican culture, influenced by its commercial contact with France, Cuba and the city of New Orleans of the United States of North America.
Architecture, fashion, and gastronomy are arts that exhibit the latent feeling of the Yucatec, a sense of belonging more to the world than to their own nation.
A characteristic feature of this culture is its mischievous sense of humor, reflected during the celebration of the dairy farms, celebrations held in honor of the annual count of the cattle and where the attendees dance animatedly a jaranita until someone screams Bomba! and proceeds to recite a picaresque quartet, the seal of Yucatecan identity.
His music, known as Yucatan trova, delights international audiences and is the result of the broad cultural influence mentioned above. Its main exhibitors of all times are Cirilo Baqueiro, Fermín Pastrana, Ricardo Palmerín, Guty Cárdenas, Pastor Cervera and Sergio Esquivel.
And with the arrival of the season, in the hot months of July and August, the traditional Yucatecan family launches to the beaches and springs of the state to recreate and rest in the company of the closest.
