Early Morning Tour At The Colosseum: Visit Before The Crowds

Meet your guide just after sunrise on the hill overlooking the Colosseum. Let’s face it, 7am is early. Therefore a nice espresso and cornetto is generally in order while getting to know your tour guide. After a bit of nourishment/caffeine, the Icon of Rome awaits.

The Colosseum is the world’s most visited monument. Every day thousands of tourists line up outside and take selfies in the same spots. Aside from being Roman born and bred, our tour guides are also extremely savvy when it comes to finding unique spots and angles for taking world class pictures. You’ll capture the Colosseum at first light and the stunning overlook of the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Palatine Hill and all of Ancient and Imperial Rome before the masses of people, cars and oppressive heat make it almost unbearable.

With the use of 3D virtual reality headsets, you will get a glimpse of what the archeological area actually looked like in its glory days, toggling back and forth between past and present in order to compare the ruins you see today with the majestic reality of 2,000 years ago. The VR devices allow us to literally turn back in time to stare down into the Colosseum underground and see the caged beasts that were kept there before battle as well as the the 32 metre tall bronze statue of Emperor Nero that originally stood next to the Colosseum. Your guide will distinguish between legend and truth while teaching you about the making of a Gladiator and what these bloody games meant to the Romans.

After a terrific 3D Virtual Reality experience, your guide will collect the headsets and walk you around the perimeter of the Colosseum for additional photo opportunities before accompanying you to the entrance where you will arrive in time for the first entry. At this time you will enter the Colosseum on your own, explore the various levels and views and remain inside the Colosseum as long as you like.

For security reasons, backpacks, rucksacks, large handbags, luggage etc. are banned inside the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill.
