From Barcelona: Montserrat Natural Park Hiking And Monastery Half Day Tour

We will start the day visiting the Benedictine abbey of Santa Maria de Montserrat and discovering its amazing history. Then we will get ready and start hiking across Montserrat beautiful trails going across its singular rock formations. From the top of Montserrat we will enjoy incredible panoramic views while we eat a typical Catalan sandwich before coming down to the abbey to hear the boys choir sing the famous Escolania de Montserrat.

After half hour drive on a AC Minivan, we will arrive to Montserrat. We will start the day visiting the Benedictine abbey and discovering its amazing history. “Montserrat” literally means “sawed mountain” in Catalan because of its multi-peaked rocky range. It is well known as the site of the Benedictine abbey, Santa Maria de Montserrat which hosts the famous Black madonna “La Moreneta”.

Once we have visited the abbey we will get ready and start hiking from the monastery following a beautiful path around the needle formations of the mountain passing by many natural viewpoints offering awesome views over the abbey and the forests around. We will continue until the highest point of the mountain, from where we will have breathtaking views of 360 degrees over the multi-peaked rocky range and in clear days we would be able to see the pyrenees and Mallorca island.

After admiring those great landscapes taking some pictures and eating a delicious typical Catalan sandwich we will start descending through a shady path between the needle formations and forests of the mountain that will bring us back to the Abbey where we will hear the choir sing the famous Escolania de Montserrat boys choir (from Monday to Friday).
