Rafting is defined as the descent of the river with rapids in inflatable boats.
In this activity, the river commands you. Transposing rapids, whirlwinds, waves in an inflatable boat is the main purpose of this activity.
The participants are led by the responsible for the group’s orientation during the course.
To navigate the river and overcome its obstacles, it is necessary to put into practice the team spirit and understand that rhythm, union, sense of leadership, sensorial perception and even solidarity are very important to keep the raft moving forward.
In Portugal this activity started to develop in the mid-90’s and has had an exponential growth up till now as a touristic activity.
As a group activity cooperation and discipline is fundamental to overcome the obstacles of the river which makes it even more exciting and attractive.
Rafting allows us to know the river from the inside out learning about all its dynamics and obstacles. In Minho river in particular, we can learn with precision about its fisheries and how they work by navigating in the middle and even over them.
This activity is carried out with a guide/monitor who guides each boat. Normally there is one guide per boat (1 guide per 6 to 8 people).
