You don’t need to be a swimmer to enjoy this exhilarating experience. Splash and Wade is an interaction that lets you meet our Atlantic bottlenose dolphins up close and personal, while standing comfortably in waist-deep water. After an informative briefing you’ll be fitted with a flotation vest and stand on a platform that submerges to about 3 feet deep in our natural, ocean-water lagoon. Our dolphins will come to you for interactive behaviors like body rubs, handshakes or kisses. This program is fun and easy for young and young at heart alike!
Hours: 10am, 1pm and 3pm Arrival: Please arrive 15 minutes before your program start time Duration: Briefing 20-30 min. | To maximize your experience and the dolphin’s this session is not timed, as the trainers leave it up to the dolphins for how long it takes them to accomplish a set number of behaviors. Ages: Minimum 3 years with adult or 10 years alone
- What Will You DoGuests arrive at the facility, check in, and then listen to a 30 minute educational briefing given by one of DPMMR's team members. This briefing not only covers dolphin anatomy and physiology, marine mammal conservation and ocean conservation, but explains our work as a not for profit marine mammal rescue organization and what you will do in the water with the dolphins. Then you will be fitted with a flotation vest and asked to stand on a mechanical platform. This platform will then lower guests into the water to waist deep height, where a trainer will guide you and the dolphins through a variety of behaviors. No swimming is involved at all! Guests are standing comfortably for the entire experience. The best part of the Splash and Wade program is family members as young as 3 years of age are allowed to participate with an accompanying adult! Marine mammal fun for the whole family!
