Old Town Lisbon By Eco Tuk Tuk

On this tour we are going to take you to most charismatic and interesting parts of the city: Baixa | Mouraria | Graça and Alfama. By Eco Tuk Tuk, you have a completely different perspective from a car or on foot! It’s perfect for Lisbon’s narrow and steep streets.

Our Downtown area is called Baixa, in Portuguese it’s an adjective to describe a short woman or a short object, this area was built in a valley, between two hills, that’s why we use this specific word to describe it. The Portuguese conquered the city on the 25th of October in 1147, from the Moors and the neighbourhood of Mouraria, in the 12th century, was built for the Moorish community that wanted to carry on living in Lisbon.

The highest point in Lisbon is located in Graça, and we are certainly taking you there! The viewpoint’s name is Lady of the Hill, get your cameras ready and listen to our Storyteller explaining interesting facts about the development of the city, and curiosities about the Portuguese from Lisbon (Lisboetas). After this stop it’s time to go down the hill, where you can see the Monastery of Saint Vincent de Fora and the National Pantheon; We are also going to stop for 10 minutes in Alfama, next to the Museum of Fado, for a walking tour. It’s our favourite part of the city, full of beautiful tiles, colours, alleys and really narrow streets, it’s just like a labyrinth! Also in Alfama, we are going to show you the Cathedral of Lisbon, the oldest church in the city and Portas do Sol viewpoint!
