Melbourn liegt im Süden von Cambridgeshire, nur 3 km nördlich von Royston, 16 km südlich von Cambridge und wird von der A10 umfahren. Es hat seine Beliebtheit als lebendiges, blühendes Dorf und Heimat von 5000 Einwohnern beibehalten.

Während eine breite Palette von modernen Wohnungen unterstützt wird, bleibt der alte Charme des Dorfes erhalten und viele strohgedeckte Cottages haben überlebt. Es wurde gesagt, dass es 1947 in Melbourn mehr strohgedeckte Cottages gab als in irgendeinem Dorf, obwohl leider viele seitdem verschwunden sind. Die übrigen geben jedoch einen Einblick, wie das Dorf um die Jahrhundertwende entstand, als ein großes Feuer durch das Zentrum des Dorfes fegte und viele Wohnhäuser dem Erdboden gleichmachte.

"I highly recommend this tour. Our guide, Bryce, was very nice from the start of the tour - pickup up to drop off at the hotel. He was very articulate of all the places we visited, he played very fun songs during the trip and he talked to each and every one of us in the bus. We enjoy all the places, Philip Island, Brighton Beach, and Moonlit Sanctuary. The time allotted for Brighton Beach however, was quite short, I wish we could have spent more time and took more pictures. But overall, our family enjoyed this trip."
