1 - Visit to the Benagil Caves
Benagil’s beautiful sea cave is listed in the world’s “Top 10 Coolest Caves” published by American online newspaper The Huffington Post. Describing the natural rock formation, the website wrote: “You've probably seen pictures of Benagil’s sea cave before. To get to the iconic cave in the Algarve, you'll have to charter a local fishing boat, but we think the trip is well worth it.” Benagil’s cave is actually one of many caves along Lagoa’s coastline but certainly the most stunning attracting hundreds of visitors each summer. Benagil caves were also on a list of the “50 Most Breathtaking Places to Visit Before You Die” by Singaporean website The Smart Local. A number of boat trips to visit the caves are offered by local companies based Portimão.
2 - Praia da Rocha
Praia da Rocha is popular beach resort that is situated on a stunning coastline. The beautiful beaches are bounded by high sandstone cliffs that fall away to wide golden sands and crystal clear waters. The main beach of Praia da Rocha is vast and easily able to accommodate the large numbers of summer visitors. There are three major beaches that are within walking distance of Praia da Rocha. The largest and closest to the town is the magnificent beach of Praia da Rocha. Heading west is the smaller beach of Praia dos Tres Castelos, which extends for the same distance as Praia da Rocha but is narrower and bound by higher cliffs.
