Will I see sets from Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit?
No. As part of gaining permission to film in the spectacular locations the producers were required to dismantle all sets except for Hobbiton. We specialise in showing you where specific scenes were filmed. Many of the movie locations are recognisable on our trips and your guide will give you insights into the stories behind them.
How long is the trip?
4¼ hours.
Is any walking involved?
Our Glenorchy trips include an easy 15 minute (return) nature walk to a LOTR scene over a formed trail. Clients have the option of staying in or near the vehicle if they wish at any of the stops on any of our tours.
What type of vehicles do you use?

What a fantastic tour. We were picked up from our apartment in Queenstown by our tour guide Daryl. He did a fantastic commentry along the way and was extremely knowledgeable on all facets of our tour. He even provided dressups, coffee and cake complete with swords at a great scenic view for our photos. I would highly recommend doing this tour, it should definately be on your MUST DO list when visiting Queenstown

We took the half day tour of Glenorchy with Jenny. The 4WD excursion was filled with information and visits to The Lord of the Ring movie sites. Jenny was very knowledgeable about the movie site and surrounding areas. She also brought swords and cloaks, along with a few treats, to provide our family the opportunity to act out some of the scenes. We had a wonderful time. Thanks, Jenny, for your enthusiasm!

Small group tour (there were only 4 of us!) in a 4WD vehicle to visit Glenorchy filming locations. Guide was very knowledgeable and we even got to dress the part and did our own little LOTR scene! I wish I could remember the name of our guide, but the young man was very knowledgeable and we really enjoyed the tour.
Don't Have To Be A LOTR Fan To Enjoy This!

My friends and I went on this tour because one of them is a huge LOTR fan and the other 2 of us just wanted to see Glenorchy and ride in the 4WD.
Thankfully, there were only 4 of us on the tour which made the ride very comfortable and all of us could have good conversations together. Justin, our driver and guide really made the trip interesting for both LOTR fans and those of us who're not. He brought us to the sites where the scenes were filmed and included intriguing nuggets of information which was fascinating.
The sights were of course breathtaking. What was also thrilling was driving through the forest and over streams in the 4WD.
I'd highly recommend this tour even if you're not an LOTR fan, to just take in the sights and sounds of Glenorchy and what it has to offer.

This was an extraordinary trip into the magical world of the film settings for the Lord of the Rings. The tour guide was excellent, very friendly, informative and gave the experience a personal touch. This was an afternoon well spent. Going into the forest and being at the foot of the mountains added great depth to the workings of the film and a better understanding of the beauty of Glenorchy.
