Laurissilva Forest of Madeira

The Laurissilva forest on the island of Madeira is one of the most beautiful natural treasures in the region. Occupying about 20% of the island's total territory, the indigenous forest was classified as a World Natural Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999.
After about 20 million years, Laurissilva da Madeira is protected by natural parks and home to several levadas and postcards.
