After you leave Dubrovnik, your first stop is Ston, small but very significant town. Located on the Pelješac peninsula. Ston was the second most important town in the Republic of Dubrovnik. Famous for it’s Salt Works and longest city walls in Europe (second longest in the world), Ston has made a name for itself.
After you enjoyed Ston it’s time to head to Korčula. While all the other islands were a part of the Republic of Dubrovnik, Korčula was under Venetian rule. The interesting thing about Korcula city floor plan is that is shaped like a fish bone, so it protects Korčula from the coldest winds.
Visit the birth house of Marco Polo, a Venetian merchant, the Gothic-Renaissance Church of St. Mark, the Gothic Church of St. Peter… One of the trademarks of Korčula island is ˝Moreška˝, traditional romantic knight game. Enjoy a battle dancing with swords where two knights fight for a lady.
On the way back optionally you can make a stop at the winery to taste some of the best wines.
