From Split: Full-Day Tour To Mostar & Herzegovina

While in Split it would be a shame not to visit our beautiful neighbour country that has a lot to offer. Since is not that far away from Split you can free up one day to do some exploring. We offer you our help to make your life easier and give you the opportunity to explore as much as you can in the given time. Our excursion starts from Split at 07:30 am. Our friendly guide will welcome you there and embark on the adventure with you.The drive last for a bit over 3 hours.

Firstly you will pass through beautiful Počitelj, now a Bosnian village but it used to be an ottoman city. Style of building a city on a steep cliff really captivates you. You can still feel a strong oriental culture since the city has been under the siege for over 450 years. Rare fusion Oriental East and the Medieval West in Europe attracts the views of all the passers-by. The tower that still “keeps” the narrow passage beside the Neretva River on its way from the sea to the interior is already five hundred and fifty years old guard of the history of this area and of people. The famous city mosque that used to be destroyed is restored to its old glory.

After Počitelj we go to the highlight of the tour and a beauty of Hercegovina. City of Mostar. It is the most important city in the Herzegovina region, because it is considered its cultural and economic capital. There you will be greeted by a local English-speaking guide that will take you on an hour long tour of the city. You will have an opportunity to hear about rich history of the city, see the Old Bridge (which together with the old town is on the list of protected cultural heritage of UNESCO since 2005) from the 16th century.

The architecture here presents a symbol of tolerance: a shared life between Muslims, Christians and Jews. The bridge combines the two religiously divided sides of the town. Christian and Muslim side. After the tour you will have 2 and a half hours of free time. You can get lost in the famous bazar and see the heritage of the oriental culture while buying something to remember this day by. You will see The Turkish house (Kajtaz) and Koskin-Mehmed Pasha’s Mosque. If you are a history buff you can visit the Museum Of Crimes Against Humanity And Genocide 1992-1995 to learn the hard history of the people.

The last stop on our tour would be splendid Kravica Waterfalls of Medjugorje Sanctuary. Kravica waterfalls is a charming National park that you can visit in an hour and a half. Its most famous cascade is called Kravica waterfall and is protected by state as a natural rarity. Best part about is that you can find refreshment there during those hot summer months. Medjugorje sanctuary is a popular catholic pilgrimage site due to Our lady of Međugorje. She allegedly appeared to six local children.

Around 17:00 you depart from Kravica waterfalls or Medjugorje sanctuary and head back to Split. Your return to Split is expected at 19:30.
