Something for all Lord of the Rings and movie fans alike with famous Lord of the Rings scenes, introduction to the movie-making industry and long visit to THE WETA CAVE included. Spending over an hour at THE WETA CAVE, you have plenty of time to take pictures and purchase movie memorabilia or simply absorb the creativity within.

As part of our film location tour, we go for a walk in the trees where the “Hobbiton Woods” was all filmed. This includes where the very first day of filming Lord of the Rings was completed on October 11, 1999.

We will show you where the production studios are situated and give you some idea as to what is happening inside. Another big highlight for this tour is our 70-minute visit to the Weta Cave.

Please note a moderate to good level of fitness is recommended for this tour as we will be walking up and down bush tracks. The tracks are slippery in places so we recommend passengers wear suitable footwear as they feel necessary.
