A majestic design, a spectacular jungle area and pyramids and temples of pink calico stone make Uxmal one of the most picturesque ancient cities in the Puuc region, which means "hills" in the Mayan Yucatecan language, since the ruins of Uxmal are in a mountainous terrain . This archaeological site named by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, was one of the most important Mayan settlements of Yucatan, which had its peak during the early classic period. Uxmal, in the Mayan Yucatec language, means "built three times", and refers to the construction of the Pyramid of the Diviner, this oval-shaped construction is unique in its type and represents the highest structure of the site. It was built in stages and its influence, which is believed to extend to central Mexico, is reflected in its architectural style.
